Mercado Roma is a gourmet market located in Mexico City that aims to be a platform for new culinary trends and for the exchange of raw materials and unique products.

The project designed by the firm Rojkind Arquitectos, aims to be a benchmark of quality food and food pairing, comparing with big gourmet markets existing in cities like New York (Chelsea Market), San Francisco (Ferry Building Market), London (Borough Market) and in particular the Mercado San Miguel in Madrid.

In the words of Ignacio Cadena, head of brand marketing project “Mercado Roma aims to be a catalyst for the community. The market seeks to integrate local efforts and launch them from a contemporary platform to include the traditions and collective history of a nation”. This new concept looks to value the producers who choose healthier options, new processes and to add a cultural sense to their products.

The main idea behind this approach is the sale of raw material for cooking, focusing on organic and handmade gourmet quality products that are not found in any supermarket. Also, Mercado Roma seeks to provide a comfortable space to enjoy the food, a terrace, various restaurants, diverse food stalls, bars all enclosed in a pleasant atmosphere.

One of its major advantages is the variety; more than 50 local products are offered to meet almost any taste and craving. The stalls can be divided into six major categories; the first major category is Antojeria where we can find traditional Mexican products from taco, barbecue, pozole to handcrafted candies. The second category includes Basic products, such as cheese, fruits, vegetables and groceries. In the category of drinks we can find a great selection of beers, coffee, tea, and Mexican drinks such as mescal and tequila among others. Of course there is the category of organic products and pastry-making. And finally there are stalls of various services such as a small library called Librería Porrúa stores, kitchen accessories and clothing for the gastronomic industry.

Mercado Roma combines the best of gourmet Mexican cuisine in a pleasant environment that allows everyone to enjoy a good time with family and friends.
